To begin I'll tell a little about myself. My name is Cari and I am a 21 year old female from a small town in western Pennsylvania. I grew up a heavy kid and I really didn't care. At age 16 however, I was at a pretty decent 150lbs at 5'2". Since then, I began putting on the weight, and doing nothing about it. I had a few short lived diets that didn't really work for me. I gave up.
This year on new years eve I vowed I would try to get a little healthier. On January 5th, 2010 I got on a scale and realized I've doubled my weight since 16. Yes, I am 300lbs and 5'4". I was also a heavy smoker until new years. In short, I was a heart attack waiting to happen.
I've promised myself I'd be honest on this blog about everything I do to make it to my goal of losing 150lbs. Maybe it'll end up helping someone else.
This is day 4 of my weight loss journey. I have already lost 10lbs!
I've gotten into my routine. 15 minutes of brisk treadmill walking in the morning or afternoon. 20 minutes or more in the evening after dinner. Each night I do 20 sit ups and 20 crunches.
As far as my diet, I'm not really eating diet food.
I've been drinking as much water as I can and allowing myself one sugary beverage at dinner time.
I rarely eat breakfast but if I do it's an apple. I don't like eating early in the day.
For lunch I've started eating select harvest light soups. They're filling and light on the calories. If I feel like I haven't had enough I try some carrot sticks or an apple.
For dinner I have whatever my family is cooking but I cut the portion I use to eat in half.
If I'm hungry later on I'll once again go with a fruit or vegetable and lots of water.
I do have a dietary supplement that is helping me. I take Metabolife to boost my energy. It made me a little nervous and excitable at first because I'm not used to that kind of energy but I've settled down since.
Tonight I did eat out for dinner. I went to Eat n Park and ate off their "Eat Smart" menu. Garden Burger and the salad bar. It was extremely filling. I did have a milkshake because honestly, I hate drinking milk but I need the calcium but I also had ice water and lemon.
This is the first time I've been able to stick to a weight loss plan ever.
I can't argue that seeing some results immediately is the boost I need but I actually can feel a change in me. I feel less achy(my joints took a lot of punishment over the years), I feel less depressed, and I feel like I can already see a difference. It's a wonderful feeling.
